I was looking for something, to put in my firewall because
of this product I saw on ebay.
So I started my quest to find some nice heat/sound shield.
This is what I found:

It's very heavy and a bit expensive (well when you get 150SF
of it). The seller told me that they used this on their big-rig/18-wheeler
diesel trucks. The drivers are basically sitting on a 300 degree
engine, so they put a layer of this heatsheilds to cool it down
in the cabin. Good enough for me! I got a 50 foot roll of this
stuff, and I've used it on a lot of my projects.
I was told by the vendor selling this, that if the temperature
gets above 400 degrees, the stuff would turn to liquid. He said
water, but, I'm sure he meant liquid. Nothing gets that hot
where I planned to use it.

It has a peal-away kind of cover, and underneath, it's slightly
sticky, but not so much that it could hold itself in place.

The other side is shinny, with a thick layer of metal. After
you cut it, be careful, it can cut you! I sliced my finger once
and learned my lesson.
I have used this with the following mods:
Exhaust Upgrade
Floor Panels Upgrade
Hood Pad Upgrade
Under Dash Panel Upgrade
If I went totally crazy ever and decided to go all out, I'd
take apart all the doors and cut some and and put this stuff
in it. I'd also put it along the firewall and stuff. But I haven't
got that crazy.. yet.
